Continuing to learn for free

Day 5 finds us learning for free over at LWSP.

Today your assignment is going to be to learn something new, a new useful skill or hobby or insight…..without spending a dime.
I happen to be in love with Khan Academy. I happen to have a 15-year-old daughter who cries through math everyday. I never did well with math until I went to culinary school and had to learn these formulas and conversions. I find that doing this help me help them.

Here is my current progress. Not to shabby.
Personally, I would love to learn how to knit. Here is a link to do just that! I think I have knitting needles in my room…… somewhere. I am starting a purge on Sunday of the bedroom, maybe I find them. While I am on the purge I know I have a book which I used to make a wreath. I also want to make this.
Spring is coming and I have a beautiful flower garden I want Herbs and Vegetables.
This website will teach you how to start a simple garden. I also want to give this a try.
Did you know you can take a free class online through the University of Washington? Yep you can, go here!
I am on a mission to get two chickens at my house, layers. I want to learn everything I need to know to raise them and make them thrive.
I will name them Bacon and Eggs!
My daughter is shocked by my choices of names. I told her at least I was not naming them Breakfast and Dinner!
What do you want to learn?

Going Paperless in 2013

Most organizational websites and blogs you visit today you see these ads and post about the Neat Scanner. I really debated over weather or not to get over seeing as I am on this no spending challenge. But I blew that by buying a latte and then having to get dentures. But technically the dentures were a loan and a line of credit. And technically the Neat only cost me $14.95 for shipping as I get to try it out for like 30 days to see if I like.

It came Thursday but I was too drugged up on pain killers for my teeth to open it when it came. I put it on the bed and waited until my husband got home to open it.

We opened it and took it out of the box and that is as far as we got. Friday I decided to try it out and see what I thought.

I got it up and hopefully working but was faced with error notices when I tried to go further.

I think I have fixed it as I have been scanning for hours and had no issues.  I am happily scanning taxes, receipts, and whatever else is in my file cabinet is going into the scanner and then being burned!

I am happy~

No Spend Month Challenge

no spend month button

Pinterest has struck again. While up late last night, trying to organize my life in 3 days, I was surfing Pinterest and found this site. I pinned it and today went back and gave it a closer look. This looks like something I can do! We don’t have credit cards and spend only what we make. If we don’t have the cash than we go without.

What this blogger is saying is “No spend month is an experiment in frugal living. You set your own rules. Try and think of what would truly challenge you to change your spending habits. If an entire month is too overwhelming, try it for a week.” Ok I can do this!

Kind of easy, you sign up on the website and commit to spending less in January.
